Mid-Week Mini-Lesson

Week 1  ·  Math — Keeping Algebra Warm
~15 minutes · between sessions

A quick five to keep this week's algebra sharp. Pick your answer for each, press Check my work to see how you did, then press Save & email my results so your instructor sees your progress before the next lesson.

Q1Linear equations
Solve for x:   4x − 9 = 23
Answer: C
Add 9 to both sides → 4x = 32, then divide by 4 → x = 8.
Q2Distribute & solve
If 2(x + 3) = 16, what is x?
Answer: A
Divide both sides by 2 → x + 3 = 8 → x = 5. (Or distribute: 2x + 6 = 16 → 2x = 10 → x = 5.)
Q3Slope
A line passes through (1, 2) and (3, 8). What is its slope?
Answer: B
Slope = Δy ÷ Δx = (8 − 2) / (3 − 1) = 6 / 2 = 3.
Q4Systems
If y = x + 2 and 2x + y = 11, what is x?
Answer: B
Substitute y = x + 2 into 2x + y = 11 → 2x + (x + 2) = 11 → 3x + 2 = 11 → 3x = 9 → x = 3.
Q5Translate to algebra
A phone plan costs $20 per month plus $0.10 per text. Which expression gives the monthly cost for t texts?
Answer: B
The $20 is fixed; the per-text cost is $0.10 × t. Total = 0.10t + 20. (A trap: 20t would charge $20 per text.)

How to wire the email button
Already wired. This mini-lesson posts to your Formspree endpoint formspree.io/f/mpqgdkww — when a student submits, you get an email with their name, every answer, and the score. Nothing to set up.

Alternative — Zapier. If you ever want to route results elsewhere, make a Zap with a Catch Hook trigger and set the form's action to that webhook URL instead.

Note: the button sends only when this file is opened in a normal browser (or hosted) — not inside a preview pane. The same wiring drops into all 10 mid-week mini-lessons; only the subject line and questions change.
